Ask: "Could anyone write a surah like the Qur'an?"

Settle down and play the start of Mishary Alafasy's Al-Baqarah (Iqra - A Journey Through The Quran).

Now listen to the ayah together in the app, with the translation. Ask: "What is the challenge?"

Each child keeps one wonder question, for example: "Why could no one meet the challenge?" Younger children can draw theirs.

Find it in the mushaf: Surah Al-Baqarah is surah 2. Find ayah 23. The Qur'an challenged the finest poets of Arabia to make even one surah like it. No one could. This shows it is from Allah.

Fact: Al-Kawthar, the shortest surah, has only three ayat, yet no one could match it.

Ages 5–8: Shortest surah. Learn Surah Al-Kawthar.

Ages 9–12: The challenge. Write why the challenge shows the Qur'an is from Allah.

Finish with: "No one could make a ___ like it."

• Which name of Allah does this remind you of?
