۞ يَسْـَٔلُونَكَ عَنِ ٱلْخَمْرِ وَٱلْمَيْسِرِ ۖ قُلْ فِيهِمَآ إِثْمٌۭ كَبِيرٌۭ وَمَنَٰفِعُ لِلنَّاسِ وَإِثْمُهُمَآ أَكْبَرُ مِن نَّفْعِهِمَا ۗ وَيَسْـَٔلُونَكَ مَاذَا يُنفِقُونَ قُلِ ٱلْعَفْوَ ۗ كَذَٰلِكَ يُبَيِّنُ ٱللَّهُ لَكُمُ ٱلْءَايَٰتِ لَعَلَّكُمْ تَتَفَكَّرُونَ
How to read it
yas''alūnaka ʻani l-kham'ri wal-may'siri . qul' fīhimā 'ith'mun kabīrun wamanāfiʻu li nnāssi wa'ith'muhumā 'ak'baru min nnaf'ʻihimā . wayas''alūnaka mādhā yunfiqūna quli l-ʻaf'wa . kadhālika yubayyinu -llahu lakumu l-'āyāti laʻallakum' tatafakkarūna
They ask thee concerning wine and gambling. Say: "In them is great sin, and some profit, for men; but the sin is greater than the profit." They ask thee how much they are to spend; Say: "What is beyond your needs." Thus doth Allah Make clear to you His Signs: In order that ye may consider-
