'Illā (i)m'ra'atahu qaddar'nā 'innahā lamina l-ghābirīna

Except his wife, who Allah decreed would stay behind with the wrongdoers.
Start with bismillah.
Ask: "Does being related to a prophet save someone?"
Settle down and play the start of Abdul Basit Abdus-Samad's Al-Hijr (Allah's Servant).
Now listen to the ayah together in the app, with the translation. Ask: "Who would stay behind?"
Each child keeps one wonder question, for example: "Why wasn't Lut's wife saved?" Younger children can draw theirs.
Find it in the mushaf: Surah Al-Hijr is surah 15. Find ayah 60. Lut's wife sided with the wrongdoers. Being family of a prophet doesn't save anyone; each person's own choices matter.
Fact: Find where Lut's wife is given as an example (At-Tahrim 66:10).
Ages 5–8: My choices. Talk about how each person chooses for themselves.
Ages 9–12: Responsibility. Write why family ties don't replace our own deeds.
Finish with: "I found it in Surah ___, ayah ___."
Talk together:
Make a small plan: "This week, I will make my own good choices."
Action: Make your own good choices.
