Start with bismillah.

Ask: "What is it like to walk in a dark room, then switch on a light?"

Play the short clip from MZG of Mishary Alafasy reciting ayat 1–5 of Ibrahim.

Now listen to the ayah together in the app, with the translation. Ask: "Where does the Book lead people, from where to where?"

Each child keeps one wonder question, for example: "What kind of darkness can the Quran lead us out of?" Younger children can draw theirs.

Find it in the mushaf: Surah Ibrahim is surah 14. Find ayah 1. Surah Ibrahim opens with three letters whose full meaning Allah knows. Then it tells us why the Quran came: to lead people out of the darkness of not knowing, and into the light of guidance.

Fact: Light lets our eyes see colours and shapes. Find out what happens to colours when it is very dark.

Ages 5–8: Dark and light. Draw a dark room on one side of a page and the same room with a lamp on the other side.

Ages 9–12: Light words. Find two other ayat that speak of darkness and light, for example Al-Baqarah 2:257 and Al-Hadid 57:9.

Finish with: "In the dark I could not see ___, but in the light I could see ___."

• How do you feel when you are lost, then find the way?
• Who helps you understand the Quran?

Make a small plan: "This week, I will learn the meaning of one short ayah and share it."
