Ask: "Have you ever heard an excuse that didn't sound true?"

Settle down and play the start of Maher Al-Muaiqly's Yusuf (islamicfromjamal).

Now listen to the ayah together in the app, with the translation. Ask: "What excuse did they give?"

Each child keeps one wonder question, for example: "Why did they say 'you won't believe us anyway'?" Younger children can draw theirs.

Find it in the mushaf: Surah Yusuf is surah 12. Find ayah 17. The brothers used the exact thing their father feared: a wolf. Liars often try to sound believable. But a lie usually leaves clues, as the next ayah shows.

Fact: Ghafir 40:28 says Allah does not guide a liar. Read it.

Ages 5–8: Spot the clue. Talk about how the truth usually comes out.

Ages 9–12: Excuses. Write why honesty is better than any excuse.

Finish with: "Ghafir 40:28 says ___."

Talk together:
